Spirituality and Sincerity of the Heart
Whether we are on a spiritual quest personally or because life has brought us to a place of seeking because of recovery from addiction, a physical illness, or otherwise, it is all the same. Sincerity of the heart is the basis to all things.
For example, true recovery from addiction is not just in being clean and sober, it is also in understanding from our hearts. It is a spiritual and emotional shift. Likewise in physical healing, the body follows our mind and thoughts.
There is a difference in knowing in our heads and believing in our hearts... which has to do with emotions. Again the body follows the mind. It rings true from your whole person. There is a knowing, a serenity. You know your truth… you know that you know.
When our heart meets our head, then the awareness and confirmation come. God/Source/Divine will meet us where we are at.
How do we do that?
By seeking sincerely… researching, reading, praying, meditating. When we believe with our hearts as well as our heads, the spiritual, emotional, and physical recovery starts to take root. This is what is meant in 12 Step Programs by a spiritual awakening. You start to wake up, to get clear spiritually, you have moments of clarity.
Things come together for you intellectually, spiritually, emotionally, physically. It is a process. One day at a time.
Whatever our religious convictions are with the God/Source/Divine of our understanding, if our prayers and worship are just for show, if we are not sincere with our heart, if our intention is empty, there will be no awakening.
Outward appearances that are not backed up with sincerity fall on deaf ears.
Our inner intention is important. God/Source/Divine will meet us right where we are at. A whole new world of understanding starts to open up when we relinquish our arrogance, our judgment, our ego. When we are humble in our quest for truth, the answers to our questions start to come together, to be apparent, to make sense.
And you come to believe with a knowing that passes all understanding, that with God/Source/Divine all things are possible. You just know that you know. We do not have to be perfect, just sincere and humble in our desire for truth, regardless of our religious background or affiliation.
Stay well, stay safe, and step into your freedom.
In gratitude,
Sharon
